Front Door
I have been painting and trying to get a few projects done around here. I really am in the middle of most of them, but I got the front door done and liked the way it turned out. There was a lot of tape and time. Hope to get the kids rooms and up the stairs done next week during spring break.
Game
Lyla and Cannon took off the printed papers from Lyla's science fair board and made a game to play. They have really been loving it even though the picture is a true description of how much Lyla loves brushing her hair! Cannon was in charge of making sure the game was orderly and didn't let Lyla get very close if she wasn't using a ruler exactly like he had instructed. She did have more artistic control. The name of the game is Combs v.s. Hairbrushes and if you land on the comb you get to climb it like a ladder and if you land on the hairbrush it is more like a slide that you move backward. Some of the spaces are:
"Mullet move back 20 spaces"
"cut your own hair back 7 spaces"
"good hair style forward 8 spaces"
"gum in hair back 5"
"curling iron incident back 6"
"smooth hair forward 2"
"tangle! skip turn"
"bedhead in school picture back 5 spaces"
JSH Inauguration
Cannon's photo bomb
Miya made it in to junior honor society and had her inauguration a couple weeks ago. She is doing such a great job at school and is really enjoying HP so far. I tried to get a picture with Abe her friend from church that also got in to JHS, but they thought that was crazy. I asked her if they ever sat together at lunch and she informed me that if you talk to a boy or sit by them everyone thinks they are you "boyfriend" and tease you. So apparently they never talk at school. So fun to have a kid in junior high to remind me how amazing and awkward it was growing up. I am just happy that it hasn't really changed much since I was there a million years ago.
Lyla's Baptism
My Sweet Lyla,
I wanted to send you a note about the event of your baptism and my thoughts of the day. You are such an amazing little lady. You are bright and happy and love life and enjoy others. You are the child that I can see out the window singing in the rain or sunshine like the world is your stage. You were so excited for your baptism. You were up super early that morning and couldn't wait to get to the church to get your "jumper" on. You got to share the morning with Patrick Rawlings from your primary class. You were so happy to have most of your Combs family there to support you. The water was warm and you were so happy to be there with your daddy. You almost dunked yourself you were so excited daddy had a hard time keeping up and saying amen. You wanted to watch from the steps after you were baptized while it was Patrick's turn. Cannon played the piano prelude music and did such a great job. He had been practicing for weeks to make sure he had enough church music he could play. He asked you what songs were your favorite and learned to play them. He is such a great big brother and loves you so much. Aunt Katrina sang after Sister Rawlings spoke about the blessings of receiving the Holy Ghost and Baptism. Sister Owen, your piano teacher, came and ended up playing the piano while you were getting dressed.
I am so proud of you and the choices you are making. Heavenly Father loves you so much and is so happy with your decisions. The Spirit was so strong and I had such a strong confirmation that I am truly blessed to be your mother. You are a beautiful lady with such a kind and caring, happy spirit. I love you and feel such peace knowing that you have the Gift of the Holy Ghost to guide you through your life and you never need to feel alone.
Love you so much,
Mom
