Combs Family Reunion 2018

This year we rented a house out on the Washington coast. It was chilly, but Nona and Holly were happy to play in the water. We had a fun family day with competition in the sand. Tons of delicious food. Lots of time with cousins. Very little sleep. Another successful reunion.

Another Mariners Game

The kids were so embarrassed that I would wear one of the shirts we tie-dyed this summer. That made me want to wear it even more!

Garden 2018

We had a great year this summer in the garden. We got about 10 butternut squash (which, the kids loved), a ton of tomatoes, strawberries. raspberries (that nona found everyday and ate as fast as she could), pears, onion (didn't work super great, but I got a few small ones), peppers, cauliflower, blueberries and apples. I tried honeydew because I couldn't get watermelons to work last year. The honeydew needs a hotter and longer growing season so I might try inside this year for a little while. I also had all my herbs outside for tons of fresh eating. It is so great to have Marilyn close because she is teaching me all her tricks for making things grow and produce longer. I love being outside and gardening fun fresh food.

Nona Summer 2018

We spent a lot of time down throwing rocks once the temperatures changed this Fall and waiting for kids to come home from school.

Nona spent some time in the corner this summer and Miya tried to get her to count it down in Spanish.

It was nice to have a swimming buddy again this summer. Nona loved being down at the beach with me while the older kids were in the water and she got really good at swimming around with her life-jacket. Missing these sunny days right now in the middle of January and can't wait for another summer.

Sunnyside Beach 2018

Miya had a meeting for ASB during the summer at Sunnyside Beach. I took Nona with me and she loved seeing all the sea animals the other kids found. While we were there a day camp was there and two of the kids almost drowned in the water. The leaders for the group were up on the beach to far away from the kids, but me and another random mom go to them. It was crazy scary to see the kids just an inch from the top of the water, but not able to get themselves out for a breath. One was pretty grey when he came out. In these moments you remember that it is our job to be diligent and keep them safe.
