Cannon
On the way home from Dupont tonight the kids were looking at the moon and asked if it moves. After we told them yes and they were watching the clouds move past the moon Cannon says, "maybe it (the moon) is playing tag with the clouds". I thought it was a great description of what things looked like with the clouds coming and going around the moon.

Girls Night
So last night Phil took Cannon to a father/son camp out. I decided I should do something fun with just the girls. For some reason they wanted to go to Carl's Junior for dinner, gag, but whatever they wanted. We then hit target and purchased a girly (Island Barbie) movie and some candy. Lyla didn't stop singing the entire movie so I think it was a hit. The girls are now watching/singing with the movie this morning before we head up to Seattle. It was really fun to hanging out with them and not feel like I needed to be doing a million other things.
I can't wait to see how things went with Cannon. He was SO excited all week and kept asking things about "boys camp" and reminding Miya and Lyla that they were not invited to go to "boys camp". He loved it last year and was looking forward to hot dogs for dinner, a fire, sleeping in a tent, the "yummy breakfast" and hanging out with dad. Phil and I talked about how great it is that he was so excited to have this time with just his dad, because we know that at some point in his life these things just wont be that exciting. I am glad we can have these moments now and build relationships with our children that will hopefully make it easier to have a good relationship when they are older and friends are way more cool than we are.

Family Prayer
I just got down from family prayer where Miya asked, "that we can all have better attitudes tomorrow." I gave everyone a hug and told them sorry and that I would be better tomorrow. Being a mom doesn't make me perfect, but I am glad my kids forgive so easily.

Travel buddies
Lyla and I are constant companions. We have been back and forth from Seattle many times over the last few weeks working on things at the houses. The conversation is almost always the same and goes a little something like this:
Lyla: Mom is this Taylor
Me: No it is ________________
Lyla: Oh. Can we listen to Taylor?
Me: No we can only listen to the radio in this car.
Lyla: There's a bus. A money bus (this is to clarify it is not a school bus, but public transit)
Me: That's right. (because if I don't respond she will continue to talk about it until I do)
Lyla: A motorcycle (she loves to keep track of three things school buses, money buses and motorcycles)
Me: I wouldn't want to be on a motorcycle in the rain. (because again I must respond or I will be hearing about the motorcycle until I do)
Lyla: The water slides. (you can guess that we are now at Wild Waves)
Me: I wouldn't want to be on the water slides today in the cold. (because I am very boring and needing to borrow the same response for the motorcycle)
Lyla: Where is the spider? (she continues to ask this even though I have explained many times about the spider only decorating the roller coaster at Halloween)
Me: Remember they only have that out at Halloween.
Lyla: Yeah, they take it down and take the air out.
Lyla: Is this Taylor?
(much of the conversation is on repeat because there are often school buses, money buses and motorcycles on the road)
We are able to have some really deep relationship building conversations in the car. She does love that normally in the car I bring snacks and sometimes if we are up working during lunch she gets chicken nuggets or a cheeseburger from McDonald's. I really do enjoy having her with me on these little trips and know that the time with her at home is going by all too quickly.
