Friends
Merissa was in town this last week for a work conference and she got to come spend the night last night before driving back to Utah today. I love seeing old friends. I love that there are those friends that no matter how long it has been or how different your lives seem now it is just great to see them. It is easy to laugh and talk and hard to say good-bye. We really just wanted one good picture, but had to take five to find one. These are just all the other beautiful ones.
My cheerleader arm always seems to make it in the photo.
Trying to give my best Popeye impression.
Telling Phil one final thing during the photo.

The Good Life
We rented out one of the houses in Seattle and the tenant moves in on Friday. HOORAY!!! We were hoping that it would sell, but are just happy to have someone in it for now. I am sure we will be happy to be selling it in a few years in a better market.
Merissa is coming to stay Friday night while she is here in Seattle for a work conference. Hip Hip HOORAY!!! (for visiting friends)
I have been increasing my mileage and hope to be in town June 29th for the Rock n Roll 1/2 marathon, but either way the training is good for me and gives me something to work up to again. I wish I were one of those people that was always prepared for at least a 1/2, but maybe someday when my kids are in school. I continue to write a list of all the things I will do someday when my kids are in school. I think it will be shocking when I get to that point and don't find all this missing time.
Miya wanted me to post a picture of her back so grandma could see it. She was at a "Pump It Up" birthday party with the big blow-up slides and she burned her back. She was super brave about it and I just told her we would take care of it at home and she kept playing. I put band-aids on it and then last night she said it was really hurting so I took them off to look at it. They had all stuck to her back and it pulled all the nasty scabs off.

Then Lyla wanted to say hi to grandma.

A challenge

So for YW we decided that we would make some Black Apple Dolls to donate to the local hospital. I don't sew, but some of my presidency does and they were sure we could make a few of these dolls. A bunch of ladies in the ward had made the dolls so I lined up some help and Wednesday night we finished 3 dolls and have 2 more almost complete. I had cut out the fabric, but with my sewing expertise I cut the legs all out the same so we had to toss those out and start over. I heard the phrase "you don't sew" (with a very puzzled tone) about a million times that night. I am not sure if I put of the sewing vibe, but others seemed shocked that I did not sew.
Well I guess like everything else in life I took those words as a challenge and decided I was going to make one of these dolls on my own with some of the extra fabric we had donated (THANKS EVERYONE FOR DONATING). Okay so honestly this beautiful little masterpiece took me most of the day yesterday and I had a few phone calls to mom to talk me through the feet and I don't dare draw the face on. I thought I would save that for Phil because how sad would it be to draw a nasty face on after all this work. So I guess I do sew, but I think I will go back to choosing not to sew because lets face it I don't enjoy it and who has the time to take ALL DAY for one doll.

I WILL SURVIVE
1. changing another kids diaper is not the same as your own kids
2. wiping someones nose can make you gag
3. you couldn't pay me enough to take on daily daycare
4. they should have more two-year-old children on demolition crews

The boys did take a 30 minute quiet-time reading their books and Cannon had a wonderful time playing with cousins. We also captured the picture of this rainbow while the boys were here on Wed and they were excited for summer to come so they could swim out and find the pot of gold. I have already found my pot o' gold because I only have two kids here at home with me today and the house is finally getting clean and back to normal.
