Wrapping It Up

Well we have been busy squeezing every last minute of summer we could out of this last week. There is a chill in the air that wasn't there just days ago. The kids are getting excited for school to start next week and we have moved from spending hours a day in the water to building sand castles up on the beach. FHE was spent watching dad swim (which I of course missed the actual jump picture and only caught the standing on the pole and the feet sticking out of the water) and building sand castles.

We took a few hours yesterday to go thru drawers of clothes, putting away summer things
and finding a home for clothes that actually fit and will keep us warm this fall and winter. Cannon went to church on Sunday in a 3T shirt he found in his drawer. Nothing like a little boy in a belly shirt at church. When I buttoned up his buttons on his sleeves they were 3/4 sleeves. We heard a lot of comments about that shirt and have since found a new home for it in the D.I. bag. There were some tears shed by Cannon when we placed it there. He sure does get attached to clothes and they are never the ones you hope he makes an attachment too.

This might get me in a lot of trouble with Phil. I laughed so hard all that day. It is fun to have a good belly laugh every now and again.

Anniversary Weekend

Phil's parents watched our kids the past few days while I went with Phil to Portland for a few days of work. He worked Thursday and Friday while I had some time to just hangout and chill without the kids. Then on Saturday we took a drive out to the Oregon coast. It was beautiful, but a little bit cool. After swimming in the lake all summer, which has warmed up considerably over the past month I couldn't make myself get in the water. Phil was determined to swim. Here he is walking out to get in the water.

This is about two seconds later after his feet hit the water, he comes walking back.

The salt water air really did great things with my hair.

Phil kept taking pictures that were just too close so I ended up just turning my head.

We had a really great day and enjoyed every minute we had together. Can't believe it has been 11 years.

Ferry Ride

A few weekends ago we went over to Vashon to check out all the new re-modeling work that had been done at Phil's parent's house. The kids love the ride on the ferry and we went up top to take pictures and look at the jelly fish.

During the heatwave here in Seattle during July we set up the projector down in our unfinished basement because it was the coolest place in the house at night. The kids thought it was super fun to sit and watch movies together in the basement on the bean-bag.

Summer Update

Well I finally decided to sit down and do a little update on what we have been doing the past few weeks.
1. We had a heat wave here in Seattle with temperatures in the triple digits for a few days. We spent all of the day and some of the night swimming in the water trying to stay cool.
2. The kids have been wanting to take up the new hobby/art of photography so we have a lot of the following, "whoops, I forgot your head" shots.

They normally find me somewhere around the 3rd or 4th try.

3. Now we are receiving rain and cooler temperatures so the kids have been playing "knee boarding" inside. (I am pretty sure poor kids have better imaginations...only because they have to pretend to knee board as they watch the boats drive around outside.) 4. & 5. Phil caught me reading and riding my bike the other day. Then is started to rain so I had to put the book in the car. I have enjoyed having time for both reading and riding this summer.

6. Swimming. Cannon and Miya are both swimming without life-jackets and loving it. They are happy now getting their heads wet and using big arm strokes.

I am afraid that the summer like my tan is fading fast and we are trying to squeeze the most fun out of everyday we can. My kids are at the perfect age this summer for fun and for letting me now have to worry every moment about them. Lyla is a great little swimmer in her life-jacket and loves being outside. This has been the perfect summer already and we still have a few more weeks left.
